We had a fantastic turn out of blue and yellow for our fundraising day in aid of Medical Help Ukraine. We haven’t an exact total yet but we have been amazed at the generosity of our entire school community. We will update you all on the total raised next week and how the money will help in Ukraine.

Medical Help Ukraine Fundraiser
Our whole school community has been shocked and saddened by the crisis in Ukraine and we are all feeling very helpless as we watch the humanitarian disaster that is unfolding before our eyes. We think in particular of the children of Ukraine and the unimaginable trauma they are experiencing.
A group of Ukranian doctors based in Dublin are fundraising to get medical supplies to send to help their fellow colleagues in their home country.
They are supported by the Ukrainian Embassy of Ireland, Lifeline Ambulance Services, the HSE, Blackrock Health (incorporating Blackrock Clinic, Galway Clinic, Hermitage Clinic and Limerick Clinic), Bons Secours Health System Ireland, UPMC Ireland, Mater Private Network, and Ryanair, and have already sent an ambulance and two vans of medical equipment to Ukraine.
The doctors are now organising with the Ukrainian Embassy, the transportation of further medical supplies and the seven doctors involved are determined to help as many people as possible with a Go Fund me campaign which has already raised nearly €500,000.
The group are also working closely with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and have direct links in multiple Ukrainian hospitals affected by the crisis and will be able to focus on their most pressing needs.
All funds raised will go strictly towards assisting the Ukrainian citizens, who became victims of the conflict, and medical staff in their efforts to heal those wounded.
St.Brigid’s wants to join this fundraising appeal. Any money we raise will go directly towards buying paediatric medical supplies and equipment that will be flown to Ukraine by Ryanair next week.

With this in mind, St. Brigid’s is turning blue and yellow on Friday, 11th March.
We are inviting our pupils to wear something blue and/or yellow to school that day and we are asking all staff, parents, guardians and children that are in a position to do so, to make a donation. Donations can be given in cash or online via Aladdin. All monies raised by our school community will be sent to Medical Help Ukraine without delay.
Our blue and yellow day is St. Brigid’s way of showing our solidarity with and support for the people of Ukraine who are suffering desperately. We continue to pray for an immediate return to peace.
Thank you for your generosity.
