What an achievement for the 6th class girls to play in Croke Park today. They were up against a brilliant team from Belgrove but they played their hearts out. We were all impressed with their spirit, skill, determination and team work. They gave the whole school something to cheer about. It was a day we hope they will always remember.

Sports Day
Rugby Blitz
5th and 6th had a great morning playing Tag Rugby in Coolmine. The event was really well organised and everyone was on a team. Despite the really strong gusts they managed to play and have a great time. Thanks to Mr. Doyle for organising this event and to Coolmine Rugby for the use of the venue.
Visit from members of the Ladies Irish Hockey Squad
On Tuesday last we were proud to welcome back to Saint Brigid’s a past pupil and outstanding athlete, Sarah Hawkshaw. Recently Sarah has been on a sports scholarship in America but is now home and training with the Irish Ladies Hockey Team. She was accompanied by the incredible Jill Pender. Jill scored the winning penalty in the world cup semi finals and this goal saw Ireland through to the world cup finals for the first time ever. What an achievement. The girls spoke to the 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th classes and got a rousing cheer when they played a clip of that famous penalty goal ! We want to thank both players for visiting and inspiring so many of our pupils to pursue their goals and dreams.

Our Supporters
Children from 3rd classes upwards were allowed to travel to Croke Park to support the teams. We hired 7 buses including 2 double deckers to transport everyone to the game. It was a great day and the icing on the cake was when the girls lifted the cup.

Sports Day 2015
Russell Park was the venue for Sports Day 2105 . We had 4 sections and in each section children were divided into 3 teams. The idea is to run for your team. Each placeholder was awarded team points and others who tried really hard or who had a slight mishap got bonus points . Each class ran a three legged race, egg ( golfball) and spoon race , sack race and a sprint . Nora Doyle was present and took some great photos. As you can see everyone had a great day!

We were so thrilled this year to have both our girls and our boys camogie and football teams playing in Croke Park. They girls had a fantastic victory. The boys didn’t win but had a great time nonetheless.
