We know that we have some really talented swimmers in our school. This year we are hoping to enter some children in the swimming events in the 2018 Community Games.

Swimming Success

We were delighted to learn today that Cameron Jackson has done St Brigid’s proud in the All Ireland Schools Irish Nationals.
For the under 9 category, each child entered  two strokes..all the training, hard work and passion  paid off in the end and he won the silver in 50mtr freestyle & bronze in the backstroke. We couldn’t be prouder!

Croke Park Appearances

Well done girls and congratulations to Noelle Healy on winning player of the match .

Four of our girls have been selected to play in a mini game in Croke Park this Saturday evening. The event is headlined by the The Dublin  Football Teams.  The Ladies team plays Cork and the  Mens play Donegal. Teacher Mr. Martin O’ Reilly takes the pitch for Donegal !  Faye Monaghan, Niamh Carolan, Sadbh Kenny and Mia Brown  are so lucky to  be  there to cheer everyone on.

National Swimming Finals

Cameron Jackson who is in 3rd class is representing St Brigids in the Irish national swimming schools finals on Sunday. Unfortunately he was the only qualifier from St. Brigids at Leinster qualifiers in Oct. All the top underage swimmers in Ireland compete in this tournament & qualifying for it is an achievement in itself. He will be racing in the 50 meter freestyle & back crawl. His Dad says he has been absolutely flying in training & he has a really good chance in qualifying out of his heat into the final 10 in both disciplines. The competition including heats & finals are on in NAC on this Sunday. We all wish him well and hope he has a great tournament.

Well Done Boys

We are thrilled to report that the Boys Senior Football team won today at Croke Park. Having trailed by nine points at one stage, they fought hard to come back level and then to  snatch victory from Drimnagh Castle by a single point. Mr Courtney  said  ” This was one of the best games of football  I ever witnessed in Saint Brigid’s. The boys showed such courage and determination and  they all played with great speed and skill against tough oposition”

Well done to all the team and a huge congratulations to Mr. Byrne and Mr. O’ Donoghue, our team coaches.
