Virtual DreamSpace visit for 6th class @MS_eduIRL

The remaining 6th classes took part in virtual STEM sessions with the DreamSpace team today. It was a fantastic experience for all the children. They learned lots about the world of STEM, mixed reality, artificial intelligence and also coded with MicroBits. Lots of complicated code was written and tested!
Thanks to Niamh and Michael of Microsoft DreamSpace for facilitating the sessions today. We look forward to hopefully making an actual visit some day soon.

Medal winner!

A big well done to Vincent from 5th class who took home three paralympic medals at the weekend, for javelin, shot put and discus!

Vincent’s Mum kindly agreed for us to share his picture below. What a fantastic achievement!

Virtual visit to Microsoft DreamSpace @MS_eduIRL

Two of our 6th classes took part in virtual coding and STEM sessions with Corey from the DreamSpace team today. It was an amazing experience for all the children and they learned so much about the world of STEM, coded with  microbits and even designed a rock, paper, scissors game themselves!

Thanks to the DreamSpace Team for facilitating us and hopefully we will get to visit at some stage in the future.

The other two 6th classes have their sessions to look forward to next week.

Past pupil, Alannah does St. Brigid’s proud

We were delighted to hear during the summer that one of our past-pupils, Alannah O’Connell, was selected to play for the Irish Women’s U16 basketball team.

Alannah loved to play all sports when she was in St.Brigid’s and her psssion for basketball developed over the last number of years playing for Tridents basketball club.

Alannah travelled to Slovakia in August to play in a tournament against teams from all around Europe. As you can see from the pictures below, she represented Ireland with pride!

Well done Alannah, everyone here in St.Brigid’s is very proud of you

Marathon Kids

Mr. Lowery got the Fingal Marathon Kids programme  off to a great start this year!  The 6th class girls and boys began their programme on Monday. They are hoping to cover the same distance as a full marathon over the next two months. Look out for them running lapos on the Church Green every day !

6th Class Graduation

6th Classes graduated today. We held two socially distanced ceremonies! Pupils listened to the wise words of Mr. Courtney and to speeches from their peers. They were presented with a graduation book and a special graduation pin.

After the ceremony it was back to the class for a brunch of fresh orange juice, sausages, bread buns and donuts. Then they went to the church for a final blessing from Fr. Coughlan.

They also managed to fit in a surprise ceremony for Mr. Courtney’s retirement.  They recorded the lovely tribute  below and played it for him

More about the surprise. ceremony tomorrow.

We want to wish out graduates well on the next stage of their journey. We are proud of each and everyone of them.
