Junior Infant children in Room 1 went on a Nature Walk today to mark Tree Day 2018. We first looked at the new trees growing around our yard and saw all the Autumn colours and the leaves that have fallen on the ground. On the green, we played in the leaves and looked at the Hawthorn tree and it’s berries – some of us even felt the thorns! We made bark and leaf rubbings before finishing our walk to a special tree on the school grounds. We knew it was a Horse Chestnut tree because we found the conkers on the ground! We had lots of fun celebrating Tree Day and following Sammy Squirrel’s advice to ‘Be Nature Nice!’
Take a look at the digital art created by Ms. McGovern’s class over the last few weeks.
The children have been working with a variety of digital tools and online software to create digital art over the last few weeks. The worked in pairs to learn about using a mouse and a keyboard, creating 2d shapes, using different tools, pens and colours and created a great variety of art.
As part of our local history week, some classes visited the old classroom in the library to experience what school was like long ago. Here are some children from Junior Infants who found it very different from the colourful classroom they are used to .
There was great excitement among Ms. Doyle’s senior infant pupils today as they climbed the stairs to the 6th class corridor for their ‘second time ever’. They were on their way to Ms. Kane’s class to partake in a Local History Quiz. The quiz was created by the sixth class pupils using Kahoot software and the senior infants used ipads to answer the questions. Sixth class pupils then presented their excellent Local History projects to their younger counterparts. Tomorrow the senior infant children will go on a walk to see the sites of the old post office and the old well.
A big thank you to Ms. Kane and her class for their hard work today.
The children in Ms. Dillon’s Senior Infant class have been working with a variety of digital tools and online software to create digital art over the last few weeks. The worked in pairs to learn about using a mouse and keyboard, creating 2d shapes, using different tools, pens and colours and created a great variety of winter-themed art and also some abstract art!
