Spring Planting

The Student Council and the Garden Classes spent the afternoon planting bulbs in the school yard. Thankfully Ms. Dillon and the children from Ms. Dooley’s class also came along to provide some assistance with the digging!

Fingal County Council kindly donated lots of bulbs for us to plant which we are very grateful for. We will be waiting patiently for the flowers to bloom over the coming weeks!

4th Class Local History Walk

On Thursday 4th class got opportunity to visit Castleknock College as part of Local History and Geography week. We were lucky enough to be given a guided tour of the college grounds by 5th year students. We learned lots of interesting facts about the history of the school and even got to see the ruins of the castle on the hill up close! Thank you to Castleknock College for being so welcoming again this year.

CyberSafe Kids Parental Awareness Campaign #samerulesapply

CyberSafe Kids have launched a new online safety parental awareness campaign   ‘Same Rules Apply’,  as part of Safer Internet Day.

In partnership with the National Parents Council and supported by Accenture, this campaign highlights the need to approach parenting children ‘online’ in the same way that we approach parenting them ‘offline’.

As part of the campaign, they have created a new interactive Digital Parenting guide. Digital Parenting: Keeping your Kids Safe Online will help parents provide the support and care their children need to navigate the online world safely.

The video challenges the arbitrary distinction between ‘offline’ and ‘online’ worlds asking, “As parents, we’d never allow this to happen offline, so why allow it online? Giving your child unsupervised access to the online world means you’re also giving the online world unsupervised access to your child. Remember, online or offline, Same Rules Apply.”

The #SameRulesApply campaign is accessible here: www.cybersafekids.ie/samerulesapply

Senior Friends’ Day in 4th Class

The 4th class children had the pleasure of hosting Senior Friends’ Day last Friday. We welcomed grandparents and senior friends from near and far alongside members of the Castleknock Grandparents’ Association. The boys and girls had the opportunity to sing songs, recite poetry, show off their work and learn about what school was like in the past for our senior friends. The PTA kindly provided refreshments. This special day was a resounding success!
