This year Folens is celebrating 50 years of annuals, and like every year, the excitement of Christmas still begins when Súgradh, Spraoi, Siamsa, and Sonas arrive in the classroom.
To celebrate our 50th Anniversary, for every 10 Annuals sold, Folens are donating 1 Annual to charity. Each Folens Christmas Annual is bursting with activities, games, stories, and competitions to entertain and delight this festive period. Be sure not to miss our interviews with footballer Seani Maguire and animated feature filmmaker Tom Moore. Plus, each Annual comes with a free Christmas pen or pencil.

Take a look at some of their science experiments: Dancing Raisins, Lava Lamps, Coke and Mentos Explosions, Static Electricity with Balloons, Gummy Bears Experiment, Making Levers, Ramps and Surfaces, Drawing Insects, Fire: Oxygen v Carbon Dioxide and Floating and Sinking.
The children in Room 3 Junior Infants have been very busy for Science Week 2020. They completed five activities focusing on floating and sinking, levers and pulleys, ramps, materials and friction, analysing insects and investigating how a candle need O2 to stay lit.
Science week is a little different this year in our school unfortunately but there are lots of exciting activities and experiments still going on in class!
Take a look at what the children in Room 1 have been learning about this week. Working in stations they have explored objects that float or sink. They looked at different insects and counted their legs. They tried to build a wheel barrow. Ramps with different surfaces were also used and the children discovered which surfaces were the best for speed. The children also discovered that flames need oxygen to stay alight!
Fr, Connolly was a much loved member of our school and parish community since his arrival as parish priest in 1984. For many years he celebrated masses, communions, confirmations and carols services with our staff and pupils and continued to do so long after his retirement. The last celebration we enjoyed with him was his 90th birthday when our choir performed a special concert in his honour.
We remember him with admiration and affection and we extend our sympathies to all his family and friends.
