Board of Management Elections

The term of our current Board of Management is coming to an end and the appointment of a new board is now about to begin. At the outset, I would like to pay tribute to the outgoing board who have made a huge contribution to St. Brigid’s N.S. and to its development. Under their guidance, our school has continuously sought to optimise teaching and learning and to ensure that our pupils are taught in best learning environment.  I wish to thank Mrs. Helen Spillane, Fr. Kieran Coghlan, Mrs. Orla Higgins, Mr. Fergus Farrell, Mr. Niall O’Neill, Mrs. Ellen Troy and Ms. Susan Moriarty for managing of our school and for giving so generously of their time and expertise over the past four years.

The Board of Management is comprised of two patron’s representatives, two elected parents, a teachers’ representative, the school principal and two community representatives. We are now seeking nominations for a mother for a mothers’ representative and a father for a fathers’ representative to the board. Nominations need a proposer and seconder and should only be submitted with the signature of the nominee on the nomination paper below. The closing time and date for nominations is 2.30pm on Monday November 4th 2019. If there is only one nominee for either position, the nominee(s) shall be deemed to be elected. If more than one nomination is received for either of the position, a secret ballot shall be held at a meeting on November 5th at 7.30p.m. in the Sports Hall. The results will be communicated to all families.

Yours sincerely,

Denis Courtney.

Climate Action and Recycling for Halloween

To celebrate climate action week  Ms Ni Fhearghail challenged her class to create Halloween life size mannequins  using only waste materials . We think they did an outstanding job. Some are on display in the foyer.

Ms Doyle did a similar challenge with her class  and she intends placing theirs in the school garden. So watch out… they may look very real !

Maths Trails Room 1 and Room 32

Ms O’Connor’s class went on their first maths trail on Friday to celebrate Maths week. They want to send a HUGE thanks to Ms Doyle’s 6th class who were amazing buddies. They all put  on their   “maths eyes” and went on the hunt. They had to make  circles from stones, squares from twigs and fins 4 cones and 3 bugs. It was a great maths morning in Junior Infants.

Walk to School

We were delighted with the number of children ( and teachers ) who walked to school today. Well done everyone. Thanks to our Green School Committee for organising and promoting Climate Action Week.
