Also we sent a cheque for nearly €1000 to the Sonas Women’s Refuge this week. This was raised on the Festive Friday before Christmas and we were delighted to further support this local cause.
Congratulations to Ms. O’Hallora’s third class who raised a lot of money today when they hosted a cake sale in their classroom in aid of Coolmine. We were really impressed with the beautiful cakes and buns they brought in . They worked very hard selling and collecting money and were very friendly and patient when other classes visited.
Thanks also to the other 3rds for buying the cakes!
We will have the total amount they raised on Monday .
Next week is going to be a busy but fun week in Saint Brigid’s! It is our Local History /Geography Week and every class are researching various aspects of our locality. We will have presentations from children, displays in the corridors and classrooms , visits to the old classroom and lots more.
On Friday we will have a ” Treasures of Castleknock ” exhibition. We hope some children, during the week , will bring in some items connected with the History of Castleknock and surrounding areas and be able to tell a story about the significance of their artefact . It could be anything from an old football jersey to a stub for the Zoo. All items will be stored safely and returned afterwards.
Watch out for an eye catching display near the main gate as you approach the school on Monday

4th class were sad to say goodbye to Amy on Friday. Amy leaves us to move to Australia. We wish Amy and her sisters,Hannah, Holly and Eva well in their new adventure and hope Amy keeps in touch. She brings a Brigid’s jersey, a book about our school and a class card with her as mementos..

Well done to our fantastic 5th class pupils who took part in Fridays Young Scientist exhibition in the RDS. They demonstrated their zero emissions robots. Our thanks to Ms. Kane for entering her class in this fantastic event.
Ms Houston will commence her two chess classes on January 13th and 16th for 10 weeks. All classes are now full and we had a few disappointed children today . Ms. Houston will do a 3:40 session on Mondays if she has enough children interested and a note will go home tomorrow about this.
There are a few places left in the Table Tennis classes on a Thursday . Children from 3rd up are welcome and all levels are catered for. Contact Christopher at 087 2412664

Valentine’s Cake Sale will take place be on February 14th , the day we close for the week long mid term break
(normal school closing time on the Friday 14th)
The Annual School Dance will take place in the Crowne Plaza on March 21st, the Saturday after St. Patrick’s Day . Tickets will go on sale early March.
Welcome back to term 2 and to a new decade !
School will reopen Monday January 6th at 8:50 am.
