Whitney Moia

We were all so excited to learn last week that a famous past pupil of ours was coming to visit. Whitney Moia left our school  12 years ago and went to Castleknock Community College where she played school basketball and earned All-Ireland National Cup MVP, All-Ireland National Cup, and All-Ireland league runner up . She  then won a scholarship to attend University in Kansas and  3 years ago she moved there to study psychology and play in the American College Basketball Leagues.

Despite her success in America she has kept in touch with her friends in Ireland and on her latest trip home she agreed to visit us and talk to the 6th classes. She explained that although she was shy and struggled a lot in Primary school,  her dream was always to play basketball in America and she had to work  really hard both in class and in the gym to achieve that dream.

After she spoke,  she joined Mr Mac Cann , Alannah and Sean shooting hoops in the Sports Hall. She then went to the staff room and thanked all the teachers for their role in helping her to achieve her dream. What a beautiful sports ambassador for Ireland !

There’s me !
