St. Brigid’s National School is pleased to announce the continuation of its Rainbows Programme. Rainbows is a twelve week programme with 30- 40 minute sessions every Tuesday starting on Tuesday the 3rd November for children from First to Sixth Class, This programme helps support pupils who are suffering pain or loss due to either separation or death in the family.

Twelve key themes are developed spirally through the different programmes. The programme has an in-built flexibility so that the children can explore the uniqueness of their own journey. Children are grouped according to age and loss experience. When something significant happens in a family everyone is affected. While death or separation appears to be adult problems, experience shows that they have a profound affect on children regardless of age and short life experience.

Rainbows provides a safe setting in which children can talk through similar situations and come to terms with the many emotions they are experiencing in the normal grieving process. It helps them to come to a healthy understanding and acceptance to their new family.

A drink and chocolate bar will be provided at group meetings. If your child has any allergies please let us know.

If you would like your child to participate in this programme you can

Please drop the forms into the office no later than 2nd October . We can only take 4 or 5 children in each group. We will be unable to take any new children into the groups once they have started.
